Action against court clerks for tampering HC daily board

Mumbai, Feb 7 (PTI) The Bombay High Court today directedthe registrar to initiate action against two clerks forallegedly tampering with the daily board of the court andmentioning cases under wrong captions.

The two clerks - Amol Khilare and Raju Sonawane - hadallegedly listed two petitions under the caption of "Freshmatters" instead of "After notice" so as to give the casepriority when it comes for hearing before the court.

"Both the clerks tampered with the daily board of thecourt. Such conduct is unbecoming by an officer of the court.

According to preliminary enquiry, the clerks had interferedwith the board and had tampered with it," a division bench ofJustices A M Khanwilkar and A R Joshi remarked.

The matter came to light when two petitions in which theHigh Court had already issued notices to the state government,came up for hearing again today under the caption of "Freshmatters".

"The registrar will initiate appropriate action againstthe concerned clerks and file action taken report by March14," Justice Khanwilkar ordered.

While one petition is filed by the relatives of twolabourers who were killed after they fell into a ditch dug bythe Public Works Department of the government in Indapurdistrict of Pune, the second petition is filed by a ladyseeking action against police officers of suburban Mahimpolice for allegedly physically assaulting her husband, whowas arrested in a forgery case.
