2G scam trail leads to DMK account books

New Delhi, Feb 8: Janata party Chief Subramanian Swamy's perseverance has left former Telecom Minister A Raja in CBI custody and now he has trained his gun on DMK Chief M Karunanidhi. Swamy said that he has records of people from Swan Telecom, one of the company named in the 2G spectrum scam, who have connections with Karunanidhi.

He said, "I have records of several people from Swan telecom who have met Karunanidhi. I don't have to produce evidence till Karunanidhi is named co-conspirator."

Last week, Swamy pleaded to a Delhi court to co-accuse Karunanidhi in the 2G scam. He claimed that Karunanidhi's family have been direct and indirect beneficiaries in this case. As a response Karunanidhi slapped a legal notice on Swamy.

Meanwhile, the documents available with CNN IBN submitted that DB Reality owned by Shahid Balwa, a stake holder in Swan Telecom, had loaned to DMK's Kalaignar TV. Sources said, Karunanidhi's wife MK Dayalu owns 60 percent and daughter Kanimozhi owns another 20 percent in the DMK TV channel.

According to CNN IBN reports, “Rs 214.84 crore is reflected in Kalaignar TV's balance sheet as an unsecured loan. It comes from Cineyug Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd and the exact amount is Rs 214.8654 crore. It is given to Kalaignar TV as an unsecured loan in the company's balance sheet for the year 2009-2010."

The available record proves that the transaction had happened. However, the involved companies claim that the transaction has been officially cancelled now, but this also shows that the companies which got 2G licenses made its way into DMK owned channel.

The CBI is at present investigating criminal misconduct in the 2G spectrum scam between bribers and takers. A Raja, a key accused of the 2G scam, has been arrested and is under CBI custody. He has been arrested on charges of criminal misconduct and office misuse in the 2G spectrum allocation.
