Yeddyurappa acquits himself; declares assets

BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Feb 7: In a bid to clear his and his family members' names in all alleged land scams, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa declared the details of his personal assets.

After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced that "all NDA chief ministers" will declare their assets, Yeddyurappa topped the list.

While the Opposition party members claimed that Karnataka CM has property worth Rs 1,000 crore, Yeddyurappa's released asset list says that Yeddyurappa owned cash and household items worth Rs 4.38 crore, 2.5 kg gold worth Rs 50 lakh and 75 kg silver worth nearly Rs 17 lakh.

Stating about land owned by him, Yeddyurappa informed that he had 18 acres of land in his assembly constituency Shikaripura in Shimoga district, a house in one of Bangalore's upscale localities and some commercial property.

Rejecting all speculations about his possession of black money in foreign banks, Yeddyurappa claimed that neither he nor his family members had stashed away money in foreign banks.

On Feb 1, pledging to set an example in the fight against black money, BJP-led NDA had said it would direct its chief ministers and senior most leaders to declare to the government that they had no money stashed abroad.
