Chennai, Feb 7: A group of fishermen had lodged another complaint on Monday, Feb 7 with Tamil Nadu fisheries officials and the police, after three fishermen allegedly attacked by Sri Lankan Navy personnel in mid-sea. This is the third such attack on Indian fishermen to be reported this year.

All the three has been reported injured. Lankan Navy personnel allegedly ransacked their boat and pushed the trio into the sea on charges of trespassing into Lankan territorial waters.

The fishermen alleged that the Lankan Naval men attacked them even though they were well inside Indian territorial waters. They also said that they were stopped by three Lankan naval patrol boats. Later, Lankan personnel beat them up and took over their marine catch, GPRS gadgets and mobiles.

Last week in a similar kind of attack two fishermen were killed. A few days back Foreign Secretary Nirupama had talks with Colombian officials to express the strong concern over the repeated attacks on Indian fishermen.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said that he will discuss the issue with his Lankan counterpart GL Peiris on the sidelines of the ongoing South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Thimphu on Monday.
