Oppn parties to raise law and order issue in UP Assembly

Lucknow, Feb 7 (PTI) Opposition parties have decided tostrongly raise in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly the issue ofalleged involvement of BSP leaders in heinous crimes, likerape.

"There has been a spurt in incidents of rape in the statewith a fresh one reported in Fatehpur. It has been found thatin many cases BSP leaders are directly involved or areshielding criminals.

"The matter will be raised in the House tomorrow and areply will be sought from the government," CongressLegislature Party leader Pramod Tewari told reporters heretoday.

He said Congress will garner the support of otherOpposition parties to raise these issues vociferously andcorner the government.

He alleged that names of over 10 BSP leaders, involvedin heinous crimes, have already come to light while manyothers were still not identified and held the political partyresponsible for giving them tickets.

Terming the involvement of BSP leaders in such cases asunfortunate, Tewari said it is a matter of concern and also ablot on the state.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and senior SP leaderAhmed Hasan also lashed out at the state government for thegrowing number of crime cases against women and said his partywould raise its voice against the issue both inside andoutside the legislature.
