Ambala, Feb 7 (PTI) Union Ministry of Minority Affairshas provided Rs 27.10 lakh to the Haryana Wakf Board forsetting up Central Computing Facilities, providing payment formanpower engaged for technical assistance, digitization ofwakf records among other things.
Secretary, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs VivekMehrotra said this while addressing a meeting of officers ofthe Board at its state headquarters at Ambala Cantonmenttoday.
Mehrotra was reviewing the progress of the scheme ofcomputerization of the records of the Board for efficientfunctioning.The proposal for computerization of records of State WakfBoards was accepted by the Central Government on therecommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC),which was constituted on Wakf matters earlier, he said,according to an official release here.
The Haryana Government had constituted a four-member StateLevel Coordination Committee for effective implementation ofthe scheme, the release said.
It was informed in the meeting that the four modules ofthe web-based software Wakf Management System of India (WAMSI)were intended to help the State Wakf Board in registration,litigation tracking and leasing of wakf property.
As on date, the first module of WAMSI for registration ofwakf properties had been launched throughout the country, therelease said.
Chief Executive Officer of the Wakf Board, Parvez Ahmedinformed that the Haryana Wakf Board had set up a CentralizedComputing Facilities (CCF) at a cost of Rs 18.69 lakh at itsheadquarters at Ambala Cantt.
He said that the primary objective of the Board was themanagement of the Wakf properties as per the provisions of theWakf Act, 1995 for income generation, to be used fordevelopment and welfare of the Muslim minority in the state.
