6 WWF volunteers abducted in Assam

Kokrajhar (Assam), Feb 7 (PTI) At least six WorldWildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) volunteers have been abductedby unidentified persons from Laopani forest area in lowerAssam''s Kokrajhar district on the Indo-Bhutan border.

The six post-graduate students, including three women,were abducted at gun point last afternoon when they werebusy installing camera traps for census operation, Kokrajhardistrict DFO R N Boro told PTI today.

The volunteers were working in the Ultpani, Laopaniand Labonyapur forest areas under Ultapani forest range ofHoltugaon forest division, he said.

The six were identified as Torali Goswami, PallabiChakraborty, Shrabana Goswami, Nazrul Zaman, Pranjal Saikiaand Gunin Kishore Sharma.
