Islamabad, Feb 6(ANI): The Taliban have killed four people in northwest Pakistan after accusing them of spying for the United States, local officials have said.

According to the officials, the bullet-ridden bodies of the four persons were found near Karak, a main city in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province.

Locals said they saw the bodies along a road and informed the local police, however, the slain men could not be identified.

Written notes were found on the bodies, saying that the men were punished for spying in the North Waziristan tribal region for the United States troops in Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.

The killed people had confessed to their "crime," said the note, warning that anyone spying for the US, the Pakistan Army or Afghanistan would meet the same fate.

The Taliban claim that spies pass on information about the hideouts of its militants in Pakistan's tribal belt to the US authorities in Afghanistan for drone attacks. US drones regularly fire missiles on the hideouts of suspected militants in Waziristan tribal regions.

Taliban punish people on espionage charges in the tribal regions, along the border with Afghanistan, but it is the first time that people were killed outside the tribal areas, the officials said. (ANI)
