Bhagalpur, Feb 6 (PTI) Twenty-three bogies of a goodstrain carrying coal for NTPC''s Kahalgaon thermal power plantderailed near Dhanokhar village under Sanokhar police stationarea in Bihar''s Bhagalpur district today, official sourcessaid.
The incident took place after a person, identified asKundan Yadav (25), boarded the train and pulled the chain tostop the speeding goods train so as to pilfer coal, thesources said.
Yadav, who sustained injuries, was rushed to the NTPChospital at Kahalgaon, they said.
Meanwhile, the NTPC officials have rushed to the siteto make arrangement for transportation of the coal from thederailed goods train to the thermal power plant at Kahalgaon,the sources said.
Officials from Sahebganj railway station too haveswung into action and rushed a team of technical expertsand equipment like cranes for restoration of tracks on eitherside and rail bridge number 25 which were damaged due to thederailment, the sources said.
The movement of goods trains from the Eastern CoalLimited (ECL)''s Lalmatia coal mine to the NTPC thermal powerplant at Kahalgaon stood suspended till restoration of thetrack, the sources added.
