New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Delhi University authoritiestoday evicted two students from a hostel, a day after the HighCourt chided one of them, who had petitioned for relief, forconcealing facts about their staying in another DUcollege hostel earlier in order to avail cheap accommodation.
The two students had been served several notices by theUniversity asking them to vacate their rooms in the JubileeHall Hostel (JHH) but they had refused to oblige and one ofthem approached the High Court against his eviction.Phd student Venu Gopal''s plea for a stay on a noticeserved upon him to vacate the hostel was rejected yesterday bythe Delhi HC which also slammed him for concealing the fact ofhis staying in a Zakir Hussain College hostel to availaccommodation in the Jubillee Hall Hostel hostel of theuniversity.
The other student Ram Kumar Sonkar who was evicted wasalso a non-bonafide resident of the hostel, according toofficials.
The Proctor has asked the hostel authorities to provide alist of non-bonafide residents immediately so that theUniversity can initiate necessary action against defaulters,the University said in a statement. (more) PTI WAJ
