Chennai, Feb5 (PTI) The Chennai Police has once againsummoned suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) CommissionerLalit Modi and other people in connection with a fundsmisappropriation case, giving them time till February 15 toappear before it for inquiry.
"We have given them time till February 15," the cityPolice Commissioner T Rajendiran told reporters here.
Apart from Modi, the others summoned by the police areHarish Krishnamachari of Mumbai, World Sports Groupoffice-bearers -- Venu Nair, Andrew Georgio and SeamusO''Brien.
The accused were earlier been asked to appear for aninquiry either on January 25, 26 or 28, any of the datessuitable for them.
The case was filed by Board of Control for Cricket inIndia (BCCI) Secretary N Srinivasan, who lodged a complaintlast year against Modi, charging him with misappropriation ofRs 468 crore, mainly in allotting media rights and freecommercial rights.
Two of the accused -- Ajay Verma and Kunal Dasgupta hadalready complied with the police summons to appear before it.
They had been summoned under CrPC Sections 91 (toproduce documents or other things) and 160 (power to requireattendance of witnesses).
A case had been registered in October against Modi andothers under different sections, including criminalconspiracy, criminal breach of trust, falsification ofaccounts and cheating.
As part of its probe, police had sought details fromThe BCCI on the series of meetings between the Indian CricketBoard and IPL and its minutes.
