Chirag United set to face Churchill Brothers

Kolkata, Feb 4 (PTI) A keen tussle is on the cards asChirag United gear up to host Churchill Brothers in a 13thround I-League match at the Salt Lake Stadium here tomorrow.

Many believe the outcome of the match could determine whostands where in the pecking order in the 14-team championship.

Churchill coach Vincent Subramanium, after a narrowescape against East Bengal in their previous match, seemeda bit worried due to captain Okolie Odafe''s indifferent form.

New Zealander Kayne Vincent''s double strike agaisnt EastBengal was the only silverlining for Churchill, who are stilllooking for ways to strengthen their defence.

Despite the return of India defender Gourmangi Singhand winger Steven Dias, the side still lacks sting, thoughthey have managed to maintain a clean slate as far as resultsagainst Kolkata outfits are concerned.

They defeated Mohun Bagan 2-0 in the home match, drewwith East Bengal in an away game, and it now remains to beseen how they fare against Chirag.

The former champions are at third place with 23 poitns,five behind second placed Salgaocar SC, and seven points fromleaders East Bengal.

An area of concern for the Goans has been Odafe''s form,who has not found the net in the last five matches, though hestill leads the tally with 16 goals.

Chirag United''s Subrata Bhattacharya said his boys areeager to finish the first leg of the league with a win.

Sevent-placed Chirag United had a good outing in theirprevious match when they drubbed ONGC 4-2.
