Ashok Chavan''s rehabilitation unlikely
New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Embattled former Maharashtra ChiefMinister Ashok Chavan''s political rehabilitation appearsunlikely soon in the wake of the FIR in the Adarsh housingscam naming him.
"I am not aware of 25 Congress MLAs in Maharashtra havinga particular feeling," party spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajantold reporters when asked about the reported lobbying by someparty MLAs for a ''fair deal'' to Chavan.
Reports from Mumbai had it that at least 20 CongressMLAs from the state along with three Independents startedlobbying for the former Chief Minister couple of days back.
The MLAs, who are believed to be wanting deletion ofChavan''s name from the CBI FIR, called on Chief MinisterPrithviraj Chavan and urged him to "use his influence".
Maharashtra PCC chief Manickrao Thakre has alreadydistanced the party from Ashok Chavan over the Adarsh HousingSociety case.
Central leaders have already dashed hopes of an earlypolitical rehabilitation of the former Chief Minister.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee is yet to bereconstituted and the reconstitution of the AICC secretariatis also on the cards.
Chavan was asked to step down as Chief Minister sometwo months back by party chief Sonia Gandhi pending an inquiryinto the Adarsh housing scam.
