Helsinki, Feb 4: It seems like the Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has been missing his old friends in Microsoft. Rumors suggest that he is planning to make a link between the two giants to overcome his 'Friends-sickness'. Nokia may announce on Feb 11 its plan to launch smartphones running on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.

Justifying our earlier report of Nokia's plan to adopt Windows Phone 7, various technology analystys reported that Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will announce the Finnish company's plan to use Windows Phone 7 operating system on its latest smartphones.

CEO Elop may announce this during his speech to investors in London on Feb 11. With rumors of Nokia-WP7 tie-up, Nokia's shares have seen a gentle increase on Friday, Feb 4.

Earlier on Jan 29, while responding after company's disappointing Q4 result, Nokia CEO Elop hinted company's plans to adopt popular platforms like WP7 or Android. He described it as "build, capitalise and/or join a competitive ecosystem."

Nokia offers smartphones powered by Symbian and Intel MeeGo platforms. But, recently due to the emerge of Android devices and iOS phone, the popularity of Nokia phones have dipped. Nokia aims to overcome their draw back in smartphone and tablet market with the launch of WP7 powered devices.
