Tax collector arrested for taking bribe

Patna, Feb 3 (PTI) The vigilance sleuths todayarrested Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC)''s tax collectorAnil Kumar and an assistant Lembu Lal from their Bankipuroffice for taking a bribe of Rs 2000 from a person, anofficial release said.

Acting on the complaint of Sunil Kumar, a vigilanceteam headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) ChandraPrakash Paswan laid a trap and caught Kumar and Lal red-handedwhile they were taking the bribe amount, the release said.

PMC officials have been arrested under the provisionsof the prevention of corruption act, it said.

The complainant had alleged that PMC officials'' duowas demanding bribe for registration of their dead parentsproperty in his name.

In a related development, another vigilance teamarrested Home Gaurd''s company commander Rama Prajapati fromhis residence in MP Bagh locality in Ara town for taking abribe of Rs 4000 from the complainant jawans - Jai BahadurSingh and Karu Singh for giving them duty.
