Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 3 (PTI) Kerala governmenttoday constituted a special police team to probe into chargeshurled at former minister and IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty byhis relative that attempts were made to scuttle the ''ice creamparlour'' sex scandal.
Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made theannouncement and said Crime Branch ADGP Wincent M Paul willlead the investigation.
The team would look into all aspects that have comeout in the recent days in connection with the case, he said.
Referring to the allegation that two judges of HighCourt were also influenced, Balakrishnan said the Court shouldtake a serious view of these charged and find out the truth.
The police in Kozhikode had last week registered anFIR in the wake of allegations and counter allegations hurledat each other by the League leader and his co-brother Rouf.
Rouf had alleged that there had been attempts tosabotage the case to avoid Kunhalikutty getting listed as anaccused in it.
Kunhalikutty had earlier alleged that he faced athreat to his life from Rouf and he had sought to blackmailhim.
The case pertains to allegations of using an ice creamparlour in Kozhikode as a cover for luring girls into a sexracket.
Though Kunhalikutty had never been made an accused inthe case, he had to resign as Industries Minister in the thenUDF government in 2005 after one of the alleged victimsdragged his name into the scam.
The case was later dismissed by the court for wantevidences against the accused in the case.
