Secretary of Maharashtra Bar Council suspended
Mumbai, Feb 4 (PTI) Bar Council of Maharashtra andGoa has suspended its secretary Varsha Rokade on the chargesof administrative irregularities and insubordination.
Rokade was served with the suspension orderyesterday, said Nitin Chaudhari, Vice Chairman of the Council.
Bar Council found that Rokade had not signed theoffice muster for two months. Besides, she had takenunauthorised leave to go to Delhi to appear for an interviewwith the Bar Council of India. She is also facing charges ofinsubordination, he said.
Rokade was given a show-cause notice four days backto which she replied. However, the reply was not satisfactory,Chaudhari told PTI.
The decision to suspend her was taken by theChairman, the Vice Chairman, and a managing committee member.
The order of suspension would now be referred to the ManagingCommittee of Council and the Advocate Generals of Maharashtraand Goa, he said.
The full-house would meet on February 13 and take adecision on her suspension following which an inquiry would beheld, Chaudhari added.
About 1.20 lakh advocates are enrolled with the BarCouncil of Maharashtra and Goa.
