Chief Justice of Pak SC to attend Law Conference in India

Islamabad, Feb 3 (PTI) Chief Justice of Pakistan''sSupreme Court Iftikhar Chaudhry will travel to India to attendthe Commonwealth Law Conference being held at Hyderabad fromFebruary 5.
Prime Minster Manmohan Singh will be the chief guest atthe inaugural ceremony of the conference.
The meet will be addressed by the Chief Justices andjudges of Commonwealth countries.
Besides the Chief Justice, Pakistan will be representedby a large number of advocates from across the country.
Chaudhry has been especially invited to give a key noteaddress on the issue of "Emerging economies and the rule oflaw: Challenges and Opportunities".
It is expected that the Chief Justice will speak on theissue of rule of law, role of judiciary in economic and socialdevelopment and good governance, global trade laws anddemocracy and rights-based administration in developingcountries like Pakistan.
He is scheduled to meet India''s Chief Justice S H Kapadiaon the sidelines of the meeting.
Chaudhry will also attend a patron Chief Justices meetingin which top judges of Commonwealth countries will discussissues of interest to judiciaries.
The Conference is being organized by the Commonwealth LawAssociation and will provide an important opportunity forjudicial luminaries and legal practitioners from across theCommonwealth to share their experiences and perceptions aboutlaw, an official statement said.
