Obama prays for his daughter's skirt
At the National Prayer Breakfast on Feb 3, Obama showcased his jovial side as he poked fun at his elder daughter, Malia and wife Michelle.
Speaking about his prayers, he said, "Sometimes they're specific: Lord, give me patience as I watch Malia go to her first dance-where there will be boys. Lord, have that skirt get longer as she travels to that dance."
Obama, who became the first Afro-American to be the President of the USA has always spoken of the importance of his wife Michelle in his life and here too he reiterated that albeit with an element of humour.
He said, "...Like all of us, my faith journey has had its twists and turns. It hasn't always been a straight line. I have thanked God for the joys of parenthood and Michelle's willingness to put up with me."
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event held in Washington, DC, on the first Thursday of February. The event is actually a series of meetings, luncheons, and dinners. The breakfast, held in the Hilton's International Ballroom, is attended by nearly 3,000 guests, including international invitees from over 100 countries.
