New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) A meeting of the MCD to debate onthe civic body''s budget for next fiscal was today marred byacrimony with ruling BJP and opposition Congress hurlingcharges at each other.
The trouble started when BJP corporator Abdhesh Singh wasspeaking on the budget. Congress members took objection tosome utterances made by him, raised slogans and trooped intothe well. BJP councillors also shouted counter-slogans and themeeting had to be adjourned soon.
Later, Leader of the Opposition J K Sharma claimed thatthe BJP member had made "derogatory" references to theCongress flag. "We cannot tolerate such insults and so welodged our protest," he said.
Leader of MCD House Subhash Arya, on the other hand,alleged that during his budget speech yesterday, Sharma hadmade some "wrong comments" about the RSS and today, the BJPmember tried to rebut these by talking about the contributionof RSS to the nation which irked the Congress.
The budget discussion of MCD was disrupted last week toowhen Chairman of Standing Committee Yogender Chandolia was notallowed to present his budget proposals by the oppositionwhich caused a ruckus accusing the BJP of "misleading" thepeople on the issue of increasing the municipal councillors''fund.
