Pak at disadvantage for not naming WC skipper: Imran

By Pti

Mumbai, Feb 2 (PTI) Former Pakistan all-rounder ImranKhan today said that the PCB has put the team in a "bigdisadvantage" by not naming a captain as yet for theforthcoming World Cup beginning February 19.

"Three weeks before the World Cup, we still don''t knowwho is the Pakistan captain. Pakistan have put themselves in abig disadvantage by not naming a captain," Imran, who ledPakistan to the title in the 1992 World Cup, said at apromotional event here.

"It takes time to know a team. You need to be in apressure situation so that they cope up in similar situationsin World Cup. They had five captains in the last one year, itis unsettling for the team," he said.

"A stable team is required for strategies. They are notmade in one day. The skipper too has his own plans."

Imran said the absence of pacers Mohammad Aamir andMohammad Asif, who have been suspended for their alleged rolein the spot-fixing scandal, was the biggest blow for the team.

"The real blow for Pakistan is the suspension of the twofast bowlers. The two were the best in the business. Theirrole was crucial for the team," he added.

Asserting that spot-fixing and match-fixing were"almost impossible" to detect, Imran said the InternationalCricket Council should take extreme measures to curb thesemalpractices. .
