J&K govt launches e-tendering web portal
Jammu, Feb 3 (PTI) Seeking to make transparent governmentfunctioning, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today launchede-tendering web portal for Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) scheme in the state.
"E-tendering and similar other methods to bring abouttransparency to restrict the chances of corruption are path-breaking in making transparency rule the roost in governmentfunctioning", Omar said while addressing top bureaucratsand engineers after launching a 24x7 e-tendering web portalfor PMGSY scheme in the state.
The departments of Roads and Buildings and PowerDevelopment Depaprtment would be brought under e-tendering ande-governance as a vangaurd measure, he said.
"Let this year be dedicated to lower the rank of Jammuand Kashmir in the list of most corrupt states", he said.
He emphasized his resolve to bring down the graph ofcorruption in public service delivery and said "I would askmy colleagues in the council of ministers to take necessaryinitiative of e-tendering, e-precurrment and e-governance inthe departments under their charge.
National Informatic Centre (NIC) will be asked to makepresentation in this regard to the cabinet to explain theefficacy and efficiency of e-tendering in bringing abouttransparency in the functioning of various departments.
"This is the route we have to follow to ensure transparency in transactions and procurements and curbcorruption", he said and asked the officers and engineersto get used to the change being brought in this regard.
"It is better for you to get accustomed to e-governancemethodology sooner", he said.
