Srinagar, Feb 3 (PTI) Kashmir Valley witnessed aconsiderable increase in night temperature even as weatherdepartment has predicted fresh snowfall and rain in theregion.
"Western disturbances are approaching and rain andsnow is expected at many places from tomorrow evening," a MeTofficial said.
Summer capital Srinagar witnessed an increase of morethan five degrees in the night temperature with minimumtemperature here settling at 3.0 degrees Celsius, he said.
The skiing resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir andPahalgam resort in south Kashmir were the only places in theValley where mercury stayed below freezing point.
In Gulmarg, night temperature increased by 3.6 notchesrecording a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam recorded an increase of five degrees as theminimum temperature settled there at minus 1.0 degreesCelsius.
Meanwhile, Ladakh region continues to remain in thegrip of an intense cold wave.
Even though Leh town recorded an increase of more thantwo notches the minimum temperature there remained 12 degreesbelow freezing point.
Kargil town was the only place in the region whichwitnessed a decrease in the night temperature with a minimumof minus 12.0 degrees Celsius.
