Cricket Canada gets visas for Pak-born players ahead of WC

Toronto, Feb 3 (PTI) Three Pakistan-born players ofCricket Canada have been granted Indian visas to participatein the forthcoming World Cup on the sub-continent.

The Canadian team had been waiting on the paperwork forcricketers Rizwan Cheema, Khurram Chohan and Hamza Tariq.

"Canada is good to go at the Cricket World Cup with thegranting of Indian visas to three players," Cricket Canadasaid in a statement today.

"Cricket Canada is grateful for the assistance of allparties involved including the government of India, BCCI(Board of Control for Cricket in India), ICC (InternationalCricket Council) and the Indian consulate in Canada in gettingthe visas issued," the statement added.

The 14-nation cricket World Cup takes place in India, SriLanka and Bangladesh from February 19 to April 2.

Canada are in Pool A with Australia, Kenya, New Zealand,Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The team will play its firstmatch on February 20 against co-host Sri Lanka in Hambantota.

The Canadian cricketers are currently in Dubai for apre-tournament training camp before heading to Bangladesh onFebruary 8 for warm-up matches against Bangladesh and England.
