Indore, Feb 3 (PTI) Describing Centre''s Rs 425 crorerelief package to Madhya Pradesh farmers as ''inadequate andinjudicious'', the BJP here today said the meagre amount was aninsult to those whose crops were hit by frost and cold waveconditions in the state.
"The state government had sought Rs 2,400 crore from theCentre for farmers whose crops have been damaged by frost andcold wave but the Central government has sanctioned an amountwhich was inadequate, injudicious and an insult to farmers,"Madhya Pradesh BJP Chief Prabhat Jha said in a statement here.
Jha said the Central government relief package to thefarmers was meant to break the hunger strike of Madhya PradeshCongress President Suresh Pachouri yesterday.
Last night, Minister of State in Prime Minister Office(PMO) V Narayan Sami came down to Bhopal and announced therelief package to farmers after which Pachouri broke hisfive-day-long hunger strike against the state government overfarmer problems. Sami was accompanied by AICC GeneralSecretary Hari Prasad.
