Bribery case registered against Mantralaya clerk
Mumbai, Feb 3 (PTI) A case has been registered againsta clerk of the state government for allegedly demanding bribeof Rs 20,000 from a doctor, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) todaysaid.
Chandrawadan Hagavane, the accused, was the same manwho was slapped by MLA Bacchu Kadu at Mantralaya last month.
Doctor Ankush Raut, the complainant, had cleared theexamination held last year for the post of medical officer inthe Health Department, but did not receive the appointmentletter for quite some time.
Hagavane, a clerk in the concerned department,demanded bribe of Rs 20,000 to hand over the appointmentletter.
Raut, who lives in Achalpur, the constituency ofindependent MLA Bacchu Kadu, had approached the legislatorseeking help.
Subsequently, Kadu''s personal assistant approachedHagavane, who allegedly said that he generally took Rs 40,000to issue a letter, but he was making a concession in thiscase, ACB said.
The legislator''s PA recorded the conversation onmobile and handed it over to ACB, following which a case wasregistered.
On January 14 this year, Kadu had slapped Hagavaneover the same issue, which led to protests by theMantralaya staff.
