Suspected ISI agent arrested in Pune
Pune, Feb 2 (PTI) A suspected ISI agent who allegedlypassed on sensitive information in connivance with an armyjawan posted here, has been arrested by city crime branch.
The 24- year-old Vishambhar Agarwal, who hails fromHaryana, was booked under Official Secrets Act and remanded toseven days'' police custody by the court today, Pune PoliceCommissioner Meera Borwankar told reporters.
The accused was under surveillance for some time andwas picked up near Alankar Cinema yesterday in a jointoperation coordinated by various state and centralinvestigating agencies.
He was found to be in possession of a hand-drawn sketchof Southern command headquarters in the city along with somephone numbers of top military officers and CDs containingsensitive information, the Commissioner said.
"He was supposed to hand over the objectionable materialsto an unknown person when he was trapped", she stated.
Police were investigating the role played by the armyJawan Brijesh Singh in passing on the information, theCommissioner said, adding no additional details could beshared with the media at this stage.
