Hyderabad, Feb 2 (PTI) Six pro-Telangana advocateswere today taken into custody during a protest where lawyersprevented litigants from entering the Ranga Reddy DistrictCourt complex here, police said.
Protesting advocates, who boycotted the court for thethird day in a row demanding introduction of Telangana stateBill in Parliament and fulfilment of other demands, preventedthe litigants from entering the court complex by locking themain entrance gate, a senior police officer told PTI.
"As the protesters violated court orders byobstructing litigants from entering the complex, we took sixadvocates into preventive custody," the officer said.
Meanwhile, two lawyers, M P Bhargav and Dileep, whowere arrested yesterday for staging an indefinite fast afterlocking themselves inside the court hall of Principal DistrictJudge in Ranga Reddy District Court, were sent in judicialremand by the Third Metropolitan Magistrate.
"The boycott of the court will continue till ourdemands for Telangana state and withdrawal of police casesagainst lawyers are fulfilled. Our are also demanding aninquiry into the "illegal" appointments in courts across theTelangana region," an agitating lawyer, P N Arun Kumar, said.
