Serving, retired-Adarsh babus misuse their rights

Mumbai, Feb 2: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed FIR against thirteen serving and retired officers regarding Adarsh Housing scam. One of the most prominent accused among them is the former CM of Maharashtra - Ashok Chavan.

The CBI report against the top bureaucrats clearly showed that all state-level officials misused their rights and power before and after receiving land-allotment for Adarsh housing.

According the FIR, the main promoter R S Thakur along with one defence service officer M M Wanchoo illegally grabbed the land for Adasrh Housing.

The officials also allegedly manipulated and fabricated the records to get the allotments of the required land. In Mumbai, the market value of a 1076 sq ft (flat) is of Rs 8-10 crore approximately.

On the other side, Chavan is accused of proposing to include civilians as members of Adarsh Society with secret agenda to make his relatives members in the society.

The 13 accused include six retired top army brass, four ex-IAS officers, two politicians and a former defence estates officer.
