Mumbai, Feb 1 (PTI) Customs officials here today seized25 metric tonnes of rare red sanders which was allegedly beingsmuggled in a yarn consignement to Dubai.
A container, filled with red sanders which is worth overRs two crore in the international market, was stopped frombeing sent to Dubai, officials of the special investigationand intelligence branch (SIIB) of Nhava Sheva customs said.
The consignment was booked in the fake name of ShubhlabhFabrics but when checked, no company of such name existed,they said.
The officials further said that the accused had providedall the documents required for exporting along with the stampand signatures of the officers, but when verified it wasrevealed that the signatures were fake and the officer, whosigned the documents, never existed.
However, no arrests have been made till now, they added.
