Gaya/Patna, Feb 2 (PTI) Bihar Police was today carryingout raids to nab RJD MLA Surendra Yadav against whom anon-bailable arrest warrant has been issued in a case ofalleged firing at junior doctors at a Gaya hospital.
"Police raided the MLA''s house in Gaya besides severalother places where he is believed to be hiding to arrest him,"Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Lodha said.
The operation was intensified after Gaya chief judicialmagistrate issued the NBW against Yadav directing the policeto execute the warrant at the earliest, he said.
Meanwhile, the indefinite strike by junior doctors acrossthe state demanding immediate arrest of the RJD MLA for thefiring by his bodyguards at Anugraha Narayan Medical Collegeand Hospital (ANMCH) at Gaya and security during duty hoursentered the third day today paralysing hospitals.
The junior medicos have rejected the appeal by stateDeputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi affecting functioningof ANMCH, Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), NalandaMedical College Hospital, Darbhanga Medical College andHospital, S K Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur andJ L N Medical College and Hospital at Bhagalpur.
The situation has led to PMCH authorities seeking toutilise the services of doctors from outside, includingdistrict hospitals, to ensure proper running of its emergencydepartment.
The doctors of Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiologyhere decided to stay away from work for 24 hours from thismorning expressing solidarity with the junior medicos.
The two bodyguards of the MLA had on Sunday eveningallegedly fired at junior doctors at ANMCH and injured threeof them after a heated argument between them and thelegislator over delay in treating a patient.
Yadav, a four-time MLA from Belaganj Assembly seat inGaya and minister for excise in the erstwhile Rabri Devicabinet, had gone to the hospital with the patient whom thedoctors referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital. PTIAJK KK
