Pro-Telangana lawyers boycott courts, tension at Nampally

Hyderabad, Feb 1 (PTI) Pro-Telangana advocates todayboycotted courts in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh even asmild tension prevailed at the Nampally Criminal Court hereafter a group of protesting advocates allegedly "manhandled"police personnel.

The Telangana advocates were protesting against the"forceful" removal by the police of two lawyers M P Bhargavand Dileep, who were sitting on an indefinite fast demandingintroduction of Telangana State Bill in the ensuing Parliamentsession and also seeking to inquire into "illegalappointments" in courts across the Telangana region.

The two lawyers who went inside the court hall ofPrincipal District Judge in Ranga Reddy District Court at L BNagar here yesterday and locked themselves over the demands,were lifted from the court hall in the early hours today,Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar Zone) D NagendraKumar told PTI.

Angered over this, Telangana advocates boycotted courtsand held protests in different court premises in the city andin districts across Telangana, Nampally Metropolitan CriminalCourts Bar Association vice-president K Thrigunathma said.

Mild tension prevailed at the Nampally Criminal Courtpremises after a group of 30 slogan-shouting advocates blockedthe main entrance of the court premises as part of theirprotest and even prevented the public from entering the court,police said. (More) PTI VVK RAO VKV
