Rawalpindi, Feb 2(ANI): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Pakistan has postponed the indictment of Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, the self-confessed assassin of late Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, till February 4.

According to the details, the hearing of the Taseer assassination case was held in Adiala Jail due to security threats, and the judge adjourned the hearing till February 4 after hearing the case.

Qadri's indictment could not take place because the prosecution failed to present policemen's statements before the court, The Nation reports.

The court also acquitted two clerics after Investigation Officer SHO Hakim Khan told the court that they were no more required for further investigation in the case.

Meanwhile, almost 150 protestors from different seminaries gathered outside Adiala Jail and raised slogans in Qadri's favour, and also demanded of the government and the court to release the assassin.

The protestors also came in front of the judge's car when he arrived for the hearing at the prison and shouted slogans, however, no untoward incident took place.

The killer's lawyer told the reporters: "Qadri's health was not good and we are concerned about this," and added that the administration would be responsible if anything happened to him. (ANI)
