Mercury rises in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Feb 2 (PTI) Cold conditions today abated inPunjab and Haryana with minimum temperature settling abovenormal in most parts of the region.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 9.2 deg C, one pointabove normal. Gurgaon registered minimum 8.5 deg C, up twonotches, it was 7.8 deg C, up one degree, in Hisar.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded a low of 8.6 deg C, up twonotches, while the low at Patiala was 7.5 deg C.

Amritsar, however, braved a cold night at 5.4 deg C.

The minimum temperature rose by two degrees above normalat Chandigarh to settle at 8.6 deg C.

The MeT forecast slight increase in minimum as well asmaximum temperatures in the two states in the next two days.
