Kushwaha seeks declaration of assets by politicians too
Patna, Feb 2 (PTI) Dissident JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP UpendraPrasad Kushwaha today questioned the Nitish Kumar government''scommitment to clean up the system from corruption by merelyseeking declaration of assets from its ministers and demandedthat all politicians be asked to put out their assets for theinformation of the general public.
The state government should ensure that all politiciansbe made to declare their assets annually detailing the sourcesof their properties, he said at a function where he took aninitiate by declaring various sources of his assets upontaunted to do so by some JD(U) leaders recently.
In addition, a mechanism should be put in place forverification of the assets of various people comprisingpoliticians, ministers and government servants in order tomake the anti-corruption crusade a success, Kushwahasuggested.
Taking on his detractors in the ruling JD(U) camp, thedisgruntled JD(U) MP said that his assets worth Rs 2.48crore have been raised through legitimate sources of incomeover the years and said that if his rivals were not satisfiedwith his clarifications then they were free to seek a probethrough any other agency, including judiciary.
Kushwaha expressed his anguish at being let down bythe top JD(U) leaders, including the Chief Minister NitishKumar, and said that none of the senior leaders stood by himwhile some ruling party leaders had levelled corruptioncharges against him.
