New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) Afghan President Hamid Karzai willundertake a two-day visit here from tomorrow during which thetwo countries will discuss the security situation inAfghanistan and take stock of the developmental work beingundertaken by India there.
Karzai will hold substantive talks with Prime MinisterManmohan Singh during which he is expected to apprise theIndian leader about the efforts being made to bring aboutpeace in Afghanistan.
"President Karzai�s visit continues the tradition ofregular high-level consultations between the two countries,and will contribute to strengthening the friendship andstrategic partnership between India and Afghanistan," theExternal Affairs Ministry said in a statement here today.
Karzai will also meet President Pratibha Patil andaddress the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit � 2011, beingorganized by The Energy Research Institute (TERI) on Thursday.
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna was in Kabul lastmonth during which the two sides had discussed the bilateralties and ways to enhance these.
After the visit, Krishna had termed as "very disturbing"the current situation in Afghanistan and said India willextend all support for reconstruction of the country.
In a reference to Karzai government''s efforts toreintegrate Taliban elements with the mainstream, Krishna hadsaid those who are willing to disassociate with terrorism mustbe encouraged to participate in the peace initiative.
