Panaji, Feb 1 (PTI) Even as Goa Chief Minister DigamberKamat claimed to have approved the proposal to hand over thedrug nexus case to CBI, the state police today said that it isstill awaiting a nod from the state government in this regard.
Police spokesman Atmaram Deshpande said that the caseinvolving police sub-inspector Sunil Guddler, who was caughton a spy camera allegedly selling drugs to foreigners, is yetto be handed over to the central investigating agency.
"The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is still probingthe case and it is yet to be handed over to CBI," he said.
PSI Guddler, then attached to the elite anti-narcoticcell (ANC), was caught by two foreign girls on a spy camerawhile allegedly selling them drugs.
Both the girls were related to Israeli drug dealer DavidDriham alias Dudu.
Crime Branch has already registered a First Informationreport against Guddler.
Last week, Kamat told PTI that he had approved the file,which proposed handing over the drug nexus case to the CBI.
Main opposition BJP has been pressing for a CBI inquiryinto the matter. Congress'' frontal students'' organisation,National Students Union of India has also moved to the Highcourt demanding a CBI inquiry into the case.
