Bangalore, Feb 2 (ANI): Advance Micro Devices (AMD) has launched its latest creation Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) Fusion chip, set to transform a normal computer into a 'Supercomputer'.

The chip would power computer applications with more features.

"The APU, what it does is combines the standard processor, which is available in CPs today that is CPU and marries it with the discreet processor GPU which is available as a separate processor. Puts it on one chip and by doing that it greatly transforms what is available and experienced by a consumer as today's consumer is very digital," said Manju Hegde, Corporate Vice-President, APU Fusion.

This new chip has a high definition video acceleration block and a high speed bus for transmitting data across processors with longer battery life.

Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) being the parallel processing power of the newly designed chip, an APU can support two-way high-definition video chat over links with even limited bandwidth, adds stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) realism to two-dimensional (2D) content and enables multi-monitor 3D gaming.
