Itanagar, Feb 2 (PTI) The Food Corporation of India(FCI) has proposed constructing 10 godowns in districtheadquarters of Arunachal Pradesh soon for storing food grainsin order to overcome various impediments while supplying PDSitems to remote areas of the state.
"Land allocation process for the proposed godowns inseven districts has been completed and it is in progress inTawang, Aalo and Anini", FCI Deputy General Manager (ArunachalPradesh region) Harish Chander told the first meeting of thestate consultative committee of FCI here today.
He said, altogether 197 posts have been sanctioned bythe authority to fill up the vacancies under Arunachal Pradeshregion of FCI, which would provide employment opportunities tothe eligible youths of the state.
"The corporation has already released an amount ofRs 21.69 crore to the state government as second installmentof payment for the PDS contractors", he added.
Chander further disclosed that due to difficulttopogragraphy, the FCI was facing problem to reach every nookand corner of the state and to fully satisfy the people.
Citing that the FCI regional office was recentlyestablished in the state capital, the DGM assured to redressvarious grievances pertaining t PDS items in the state soon.
Lok Sabha MP from Western Arunachal constituencyNinong Ering who chaired the meeting, urged the committee tomonitor the functioning of PDS in all districts and advisedthe corporation to take care on the quality.
