Egypt govt cracks down on Al Jazeera
An Al Jazeera spokesman said, "We have been working round the clock to make sure we are broadcasting on alternative frequencies. Clearly there are powers that do not want our important images pushing for democracy and reform to be seen by the public."
The government on Monday, Jan 31 detained Al Jazeera's six English journalist, later they were released, however, the camera equipments were confiscated by the military. This comes a day after the Al Jazeera was told to halt its operations in the country.
The other news channels in the Middle East have come forward to support Al Jazeera by simulcasting its broadcasts on their own frequencies.
