DMK general council meet tomorrow to finalise TN poll strategy
Chennai, Feb 2 (PTI) DMK general council, the party''shigh-level policy making body, will meet here tomorrow tofinalise strategy for Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, due in May.
DMK, which has already firmed up its alliance withCongress, will discuss tie-ups with some other partiesincluding Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, party sources said.
The party''s tie up with PMK will also come fordiscussion, they said.
DMK chief M Karunanidhi had ruled out the possibility ofPMK''s inclusion after its founder S Ramadoss had said hisparty was yet to decide on the alliance issue and its generalcouncil would meet this month to take a call on it.
However, backtracking from his stand, Ramadoss today toldreporters in Salem he had not said PMK is not in the alliance.
"I did not say we are not in the DMK alliance. We willnot bely Karunanidhi''s hopes (on the alliance issue)," hesaid.
Meanwhile, DMK constituted a five-member committee tonegotiate seat-sharing arrangements with its allies.
DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan, in a statement, saidthe committee comprise party treasurer M K Stalin, principalsecretary N Veerasamy, deputy general secretary Duraimurugan,parliamentary party leader T R Baalu and higher educationminister K Ponmudi.
