Assam assembly proceedings adjourned for the day

Guwahati, Feb 2 (PTI) The Assam Assembly proceedingswas adjourned for the day today after two brief adjournmentsdue to pandemonium in the House since begining of theproceedings.

As soon as the House assembled on the second day, theOpposition members raised slogans with placards against theGovernor''s address yesterday alleging that he had notmentioned about the multi-crore Rupees scam in N C Hillsdistrict Autonomous Council.

Demanding a discussion on all the scams in the stateand corruption, the opposition led by the AGP asserted thatGovernor J B Patnaik''s speech was only a propaganda of thestate government.

Amidst the noisy protests from the Opposition, SpeakerTanka Bahadur Rai adjourned the house for one hour. On theHouse reassembling after the break, the Opposition continuedwith their demand and shoutings and did not allow the House toproceed with the agenda of the day.

The Speaker again adjourned the House for half anhour but the situation remained the same when itreassembled.

As the Opposition continued to disrupt the proceedings,the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.

On the first day of the budget session yesterday, theOpposition had also protested and shouted slogans withplacards demanding adjournment of the day''s proceedings todiscuss the scams, corruption, the law and order situation inthe state.
