AP''s Bar Council to observe protest on Feb 4 against new bill
Hyderabad, Feb 1 (PTI) The Bar Council of Andhra Pradeshwill stage protests on February 4 against the "enforcement" ofamendments to the provisions of Criminal Procedure Code-Act2008 and 2010.
Bar Council Chairman A Narasimha Reddy in a statementhere today said the protest call was given also for opposingthe draft Bill of ''Legal Practitioners (Regulations andMaintenance of Standards in Professions, protecting theInterest of Clients and Promoting the Rule of Law) Act, 2010''.
The draft Bill, proposed by the Union Government is incontravention of the provisions of Advocates Act, 1961which regulate the professional standards, the Bar CouncilChairman said adding some amendments to the CrPC were broughtinto force recently without considering various suggestions bythe Bar Council of India.
The Bar Council has asked members in the state toobserve February 4 as protest day, and also decided to convenea meeting on February 20 to discuss about this Bill and newamendments to CrPC, Reddy said.
