Maruti sells 109,743 cars in Jan 2011

Mumbai, Feb 1: India's largest car manufacturing company, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, sold a total of 109,743 vehicles in Jan 2011 which was marked a growth of 27.7 per cent compared to Jan 2010.

Maruti claimed that it had sold a total of 95,649 vehicles in Jan 2010 but it surged to 109,743 including 9,321 units of exports. The company also added that it is the only Indian car company to cross the one million mark in production and sales.

During Jan 2011, the Maruti"s cumulative sales in the current fiscal crossed 10 lakh units at 10,37,408 units. This was achieved in a record period of less than 10 months in this fiscal. The company had crossed the 10 lakh total sales in an year for the first time in 2009-10.

The sales figures for January 2011 are as under:
* Total passenger cars - 86285 (Jan 2010-11) -70029 (Jan 2009-10)
* Domestic sales - 100422 (Jan 2010-11) - 81087 (Jan 2009-10)
* Export sales - 9321 (Jan 2010-11) - 14562 (Jan 2009-10)
* Total sales - 109743 (Jan 2010-11) - 95649 (Jan 2009-10)
