The 26-year-old Spaniard signed a signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea for $79.5 million. It is the third-most expensive transfer in the soccer history. Only Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo's move from Manchester United to Real Madrid for $131 million and Brazilian striker Kaka's transfer from A.C. Milan to Real for $92 million stay ahead Torres' transfer.
During an interview with Chelsea website, Torres said that he was very happy to be in Chelsea. Torres added that he can finally fulfil his dream of winning the Champions League after completing his move to Chelsea from Liverpool.
"When I played against Chelsea there was always a big motivation because it was a special game, it was always one of the biggest games of the season. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to join Chelsea because I want to be part of this kind of team," Torres said.
"The Champions League is a big ambition and all the footballers want to play in it, it is a very important competition. But also Chelsea have the chance every season to win all the trophies that they play for, so when you have the chance to play in a team like this you cannot say no," Torres added.
Torres also said that he will be happy if he can score against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. He said that his former club made him a top player and gave all chance to play at top level.
"They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level. I will never say anything bad about Liverpool, I have been very happy there, but now the history is different and I am playing for Chelsea. If I have the chance to play I will do my best for Chelsea and hopefully I can score," Fernando Torres added.
