Cong declines comment on Justice Patil report

New Delhi, Jan 31 (PTI) Congress today steered clear ofcommenting on a judicial committee report that is understoodto have named former Telecom Minister A Raja and someofficials close to him as being responsible for lapses inallocation of licences.

On a day, when DMK chief M Karunanidhi is in the nationalcapital meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and CongressPresident Sonia Gandhi, the party also indicated that the seatsharing talks between it and DMK is going to be a smoothaffair for the state which goes to elections this year.

"I do not know what is in report. Once the report is madepublic, we will comment on it if it is required," partyspokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters here when asked tocomment on the report of Retired Justice Shivraj Patil, whowent into the procedures for giving 2G spectrum between 2001and 2009.

The report is understood to have named former TelecomMinister and DMK leader A Raja and some officials close to himas being responsible for lapses in allocation of licences.

Asked whether the seat sharing talks between DMK andCongress would be smoothly finalised, Tewari said,"we are analliance partner both at the Centre and state level inTamil Nadu and that is a political reality. Between thealliance partners, there are always constructive discussionsand healthy dialogue." PTI AMR
