UPPCL orders field visits by officers to meet revenue target

Lucknow, Jan 31 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation(UPPCL) today said it has directed its chief engineers to makefield visits and disconnect connections of big defaulters ifnecessary for realising the pending bills, to meet its revenuecollection target for the fiscal.

"The Corporation has fixed a target to realise Rs 7,534crore revenue from consumers in the next two months. As fieldstaff comprising junior officials are reportedly not beeneffective in realising the pending bills from big defaulters,the management has decided to send chief engineer levelofficers in field," a senior UPPCL official told PTI.

The senior officials were so far involved in reviewingrevenue realisation procedure in meetings but now UPPCLChairman Naveneet Sehgal ordered the directive to expedite therevenue collection process.

Out of the outstanding revenue of Rs 15,859 crore, onlyRs 8,325 crore has been realised till December last year, hesaid.
