Gaya/Patna, Jan 31 (PTI) Work in most of the medicalcolleges and hospitals across Bihar was badly hit today withjunior doctors proceeding on an indefinite strike over allegedfiring by the bodyguards of an RJD MLA that left three internsinjured.
Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police (Gaya) AmitLodha said "I have ordered immediate arrest of the MLA,Surendra Yadav".
"We have placed both the police bodyguards undersuspension and taken them into custody in connection with thecase," Director General of Police Neelmani said in Patna.
The two bodyguards of the MLA allegedly fired at juniordoctors at Anugraha Narayan Medical College and Hospital inGaya last night in which three interns were injured after aheated argument between the medicos and the legislator overdelay in treatment of a patient.
Yadav, a four-time MLA from Belaganj Assembly seatin Gaya and Minister for Excise in the erstwhile Rabri Devicabinet, had gone to the hospital with a patient late lastevening.
Yadav had an argument with the doctors over allegeddelay in attending to the patient whom they referred to PatnaMedical College and Hospital after which his bodyguardsAbhinandan Yadav and Ashok Yadav had fired.
Three interns sustained bullet injuries on their legs.
Hundreds of junior doctors went on an indefinitestrike severely paralysing work at the state-run medicalcolleges and hospitals in Gaya, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpurand Bhagalpur since midnight as a mark of protest against theincident.
However, the medicos of the Patna Medical College andHospital (PMCH) suspended the agitation this afternoon. Theysent an ultimatum to the government to ensure full security tothem during duty hour and ensure immediate arrest of the MLA.
