Hyderabad, Jan 31 (PTI) Nepal President Ram Bharan Yadavvisited the Salar Jung Museum on his arrival in the city todayfrom the temple-town of Tirupati after offering prayers toLord Venkateswara.
The visiting dignitary was accompanied by his daughter,Nepal''s Ambassador to India Rukma Shumsher Rana and otherofficials.
During his hour-long visit, the President went round theFounder''s Gallery, Western Gallery, French Gallery, ClocksGallery and also inspected the paintings, glass, porcelain andivory artefacts housed in the museum.The life-sized marble sculpture Veiled Rebecca, amasterpiece of the Salar Jung Museum, left the Nepal presidentin awe. He was also impressed with the Musical Clock, anothermajor attraction at the museum.
Museum Director A Nagender Reddy explained details of thevarious exhibits and the history of the museum to Yadav.
"The Museum is very rich in its collection made over 200years by three generations of Salar Jung''s. I admire theirupkeep by the Andhra government. The rulers then have done agreat service to the artists of the day. The Museum is thepride of India. I congratulate the management for theircommendable job," the Nepal President wrote in the visitor''sbook. He later left for New Delhi.
Yadav had paid a visit to Tirupati yesterday.
