Ahmedabad, Jan 31 (PTI) To protest against thenon-appointment of Judges to the High Court, the Gujarat HighCourt Advocates'' Association (GHAA) has decided to go on astrike for two days from tomorrow.
President of GHAA Yatin Oza said lawyers also plannedto file a writ petition in the Supreme Court on this issue.
He said that it has been 21 months after they hadmade the first representation to the Union government on thismatter. "The Centre sat on our request for 18 months and thensent it to the President."
"To add insult to the injury, the President has alsofollowed the dictates of the Central government," Oza said ina statement.
According to GHAA, Gujarat High Court is functioningat almost half its sanctioned strength, with only 23 judgesagainst the sanctioned strength of 42.
The members of the Association had earlier abstainedfrom court work on December 7. Later it gave a strike call onJanuary 13 which was postponed following a ''strict'' warning bythe Chief Justice.
